I've been trying to understand a strange social dynamic lately; the sweet spot that creates a sense of compassion and affinity within us. And from my personal experience, that sweet spot tips closer to the side of not knowing anything about someone rather than knowing too much about them.

SoundCloud is a perfect example of this idea. Our community spans all walks of life; a true global community containing all possible cultural and social perspectives. We're all represented here. And frankly, that doesn't even matter to most of us, because we have one simple thing in common that makes us family... we love to create, explore and discuss music as an art form.

This is all we need to know about each other to share in this deep connection. There are people out there who know very little about me personally, and yet I am surrounded by loving friends who want me to grow, who are willing to teach me, and who enjoy sharing in my experience.

I don't want this to get too lengthy, so I'll save the expanded ideas about supporting one another for my next blog entry. But suffice it to say, this little experimental music community is proof positive... it takes very little to bring us together. It takes only compassion and affinity to make us a family.

This song tells the story of both the darker and lighter sides of human relationship. For if we succeed, it will be arm in arm. But if we fail, well then... that will be our collective burden to bare as well.

I hope you enjoy my latest creation, '...and We All Fall Down.' (My first attempt at a time signature other than 4/4; suggested by a dear friend within our little SC community as a way of expanding our understanding of music theory. So feel free to tell me if I've succeeded in creating my first 5/8 song... or if I've botched the attempt entirely.) :D
